About BrighterByTheDay

Practical tools for everyday life with kids.

Hi, I’m Nate, the person building BrighterByTheDay. I’m a parent of three young children, one of whom has ADHD, and I make these tools myself because I wanted resources for families and educators that are genuinely useful: quick to make, easy to change, and free.

What it does today

BrighterByTheDay currently focuses on three things: personalized routines for home — morning, bedtime, chores and anything custom — classroom schedules for elementary teachers, and visual supports such as Now / Next / Later, First / Then and To Do / Finished boards. You start from a finished example, change the steps, pictures and wording, and download a print-ready PDF.

Everything is free and there is no account. Your draft is saved in your browser. When you download a PDF, the routine is sent temporarily to our server to create the file and is discarded after rendering.

How I approach it

Practical, not prescriptive
The templates are starting points that already work on paper. Change anything; nothing is locked.
Customizable rather than one-size-fits-all
Every step, picture, label and format is editable, because a routine that fits one child rarely fits the next.
Honest about what it can and can’t do
These are printable tools, not a program. They can make a plan visible; they can’t make a hard morning easy on their own.
Improved through feedback
Most changes come from parents and educators telling me what was missing or awkward. The contact page goes straight to me.

Every child is different

Every child, family and classroom is different. Use these materials as a starting point and adapt them with the people who know the child or students best — parents, caregivers, teachers and any professionals already involved. If you would like some guidance first, the Resources section has short guides on visual schedules, classroom schedules and First / Then boards.

The broader goal is simple: practical resources that help kids learn, grow, and manage everyday life.
