How this format works
Your child flips each task closed when it is finished. Best for children who enjoy hands-on progress.
Hook-and-loop dots (such as Velcro® dots) Fold line
Top: task 1 is finished — its flap is folded over the hinge to show “Done!”. Bottom: task 2 is still open; flip it to the right when it is done.
- Cut the dashed lines
- Fold each task on the fold line
- Add matching hook-and-loop dots
The circles show where to attach hook-and-loop dots. Do not cut holes.
- Cut along dashed lines
How this format works
Cut out reusable cards for visual schedules, activity choices, and routines.
One card per task, all the same size. Cut along the dashed lines.
- Cut out the cards
Each card is 2½ × 2½ inches (6.4 cm).
Visual Schedule — first / then board
Cut out the board. Attach hook-and-loop dots, such as Velcro® dots, inside each pocket and on the back of every card; the cards are the same size as the Task Cards.
How this format works
Show only what happens now and what comes next. Best for transitions or routines that feel overwhelming.
Task 1 sits under FIRST and task 2 under THEN. The cards on the following pages stick to the two pockets with hook-and-loop dots, such as Velcro® dots.
- Cut out the board and the cards
- Add hook-and-loop dots to the pockets and the back of each card
Place the task your child needs to do now under FIRST. Place what happens next under THEN. Replace the cards as the routine progresses.

Good to know
- What can a visual schedule be used for?
- Anything with steps: after school, a therapy session, a weekend morning, packing for a trip, or a caregiver’s routine. Start with one step and add your own.
- What are the suggestions?
- Common everyday activities with matching pictures. Tap one to add it; tap more to build the schedule in order. Edit any label afterwards.
- Which format suits transitions?
- The First / Then board shows only what happens now and what comes next, which helps when a full list feels like too much.
